Mongolian Delegation Wins Big at their First World Special Olympics Summer Games
A total of 14 athletes and 4 coaches were attended the 2015 World Special Olympics Summer Games, held July 25–August 2 in sunny Los Angeles, California. Our amazing athletes participated in three different sporting events including table tennis, judo, and athletics (the 100 meter run and shot put).
This year’s World Games featured more sports (25), more venues (27) and competitions (12,000) than any previous World Games. The Games hosted around 6,500 athletes, 2,000 coaches, 10,000 volunteers and saw more than 500,000 spectators in attendance, including Michelle Obama, Stevie Wonder, Eva Longoria, Vanessa Williams, Michael Phelps, and Apolo Ohno, among others. The Games were seen in more than 170 countries worldwide, and in the United States alone over 20 million people watched some of the Games which were broadcast daily on ESPN.
As a result of their wonderful talents and successful training the Mongolian team brought home medals in each categories they participated in, finishing with an astounding total of 4 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
